These tips are observations that I have made while surfing the web... these are things that I find annoying, or that I like. This is ONLY my opinion. You are free to do your website as you see fit. These are suggestions only.

One of the things that I find when visiting other websites, that if the website has music, I turn it off if I can. I normally listen to CD's or music files on my PC, and don't want music on the websites I visit. If I can't turn off the music, then I immediately leave the website, never to return.

Broken links really bother me, too... but I understand how hard it is to keep up with them. That's why I use NetMechanic to find broken links so that I can fix them.
