Yeah, I know, not a real interesting topic, unless you're in the business of doing taxes, which I am. I just got hired on to work at H&R Block, this will be my third year. I had been taking the H&R Block Basic tax class. Now that THAT class is over, and I'm on board with H&R Block, I need to take the employee training classes. Twelve hours of computer training (that I've managed to cut down to 5 hours, due to the fact that I KNOW the program that is used to prepare tax returns), eight hours of training/workshops on Washington State B&O taxes, Sales taxes, etc. One day of office training, and four hours of tax update. *grin* Lots of training when you're working for a business where the rules change every year, and sometimes several times a year!
I'll be working in a Sears store at a mall. Going to be totally different than working in an office that is more or less permenant. The Sears store has the H&R Block in a section where there is tires now, but will house the office for the entire tax season. When I worked for H&R Block two years ago, if we weren't finished with a tax return, we stayed until we were done. At the mall, you're kicked out when the mall closes. No overtime, but then again, that comes out of the commission you make per tax return. We are strictly commission based, taking a draw on that commission during the tax season, and receiving the rest of the commission after April 15 (April 16th, this year).

Well, the convention that I volunteer for has moved Registration from the main lobby of the hotel to the secondary lobby and I'm very happy with the arrangements. I am not happy that the vice chairman of the convention chose to act like a child in email and basically cause a lot of bad feelings all across the board. Because of his emails, this arrangement with Registration has taken months and caused a lot of problems for both sides. Now, my civil rights are protected and the convention gets what they want as well. And maybe they will realize that "compromise" doesn't work in regards to the ADA.
Now, they are inviting an ADA advocate that is teaching me the ropes, but they don't want me around to do this stuff... well, they better learn to accept me around, because the ADA advocate isn't going to want to keep coming up here from Florida.
