          Gillis scared me!

The local ParaTransit bus showed up at my door to take me to work. No problem. I got Gillis out of his crate (so he'd be ready when they showed up), and put his leash on him. We go outside, and suddenly Gillis is running down the stairs as fast as he can go... I look down and his pinch collar had come undone. This wouldn't have been a big issue, except that the gate was open. So he took off outside the gate. I'm panicked because when he's loose, he doesn't come when called. I told the driver to load me, as he'll come when I show him treats... he runs around the van and goes and checks out the neighbor's yards. I'm loaded and Gillis just runs around like an idiot. He's got a dog license, and he's wearing his walking support/pulling harness. I tell the driver if he doesn't come back right away, I'll just leave him. That way, he's out all day, but he would not be able to get in, and THAT would teach him a lesson, except I know he may get run over. There's not much I can do, as I have to go to work, and he won't come when called. She starts to drive off, and then stops and opens the door. Gillis ignores it, until she drives 50 feet and then stops (as he's running AFTER the van), and then Gillis comes up the steps and into the van. I grab him and put him in his halti immediately. I'm so pissed at him, I can hardly see straight, but I can't really yell at him, since he did come when I called (finally). For the next 10 years, he goes out in his halti, or the leash is attached to his normal collar until we're on the bus!

I'm sure I lost 10 years on my life worrying about him! *sigh* I'm glad he finally came to me, and we were able to go to work, but darn it, I'm gonna make sure THAT doesn't happen again.

          Working on Webpages

I really can't believe I did a bone head thing like this. I used cut and paste in Homesite to add a copyright notice to my client's pages... and it wasn't done so that it would add it to the bottom of the page, as I used the /div command to search for where I wanted it to go. No other tags. Which was REALLY bad as I had /div commands all through the pages and I told Homesite to do a complete change to all the pages in the directory. Can you say, Oh, CRAP? Thankfully, I have the pages also uploaded to the webhost, so I just had to download them and update them all over again, as they don't have the page set being used or anything else. *sigh* Long job ahead of me as it needs to get done by Saturday.

          Working

Yesterday was my first day of work at H&R Block. I've got to totally forget what I know about office procedures, as this new francise does everything totally differently, and even if they didn't, because I work IN a Sears store, the office procedures there are VERY VERY different. At least I could prepare taxes... after that, handling the paperwork was a major hassle. *sigh*

I love the people I'm working with, tho, and I think I'm going to enjoy this new francise and will continue to work there for many years to come. I did do two tax returns yesterday, a transmit only, and a full return. You always meet such interesting people when you prepare taxes, even if the 2nd one had 3 kids (twins and a toddler), and they were hellions, running SCREAMING and just causing havoc!

But all in all, it was a great day, even if the Sears is freezing! *sigh*

          This weekend

I don't know what I expected, but I sure didn't expect to get talked to after I basically yelled at a guy for meowing at Gillis. I wasn't polite, I wasn't nice, but he wouldn't stop after the first nice request to stop. After I told him off, he complained to the Chairman of the convention, because the was under the impression the CONVENTION told him to stop distracting my dog! Yeah, sure. I was sitting at the registration table, and Gillis was under it. He broke a down/stay because the guy was an idiot. Well, the Secretary said that four people had complained about the way I handled the guy, and frankly, I could care less. Gillis was dressed, he's been to many conventions and it's not like service dogs haven't been around for ages. Well, after THAT little experience, 4 of the guy's friends come up to me and apologize for his behavior.

I also blew up at a volunteer guarding the door to the hospitality room. The aisle was blocked so that only those walking could get in, and so I yelled at him to keep it clear and 3 feet wide. An old friend came to talk to me after I yelled at his volunteer. Kevlarr and I have known each other for years, and we basically can say anything we want to each other. Well, I apologized after 10 minutes (I was pissed).

After this ADA thing, where the convention decided they could willfully violate my civil rights, and they were "forced" to follow the law, I figured my reputation was shot, and yes, it is. I was up for a lifetime membership, but I didn't get it this year, nor do I believe that if I ran for any position on the Executive Committee, that I'd get it. All I wanted to do was have them respect my rights and now, my rep is shit. Again.

          Job

I'm kinda upset about the work situation. I was to be working 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, and start IN THE MORNING, because of my transportation problem. Well, called my supervisor and I'm working 3 hours tomorrow and Wednesday (6pm to 9pm), and Thursday it is (3pm to 9pm) and Friday it's (9am to 3pm). *sigh* I'm the senior person there, except for the office manager, so this sucks. I need to earn enough money to pay our taxes (when everything shows up so I can file them), and to pay for the cruise we want to go on in September. Also, I'd LIKE to get a king sized mattress and boxspring and that also takes money. *sigh* I don't know if I'll earn my typical $3000 a tax season. We'll just have to see what happens next week, I guess. I'll be talking to my supervisor to remind her of the schedule that I told her I could work.

          Doctors

One of these days I'll understand doctors, maybe. I have been in constant pain since January of LAST year, when my intrathecal drug pump stopped working. I was put on Vicodin to control the pain. It worked great until my body decided to be allergic to it 4 months later! *sigh* Anyway, when Keith and I moved into our new house, we still went to the doctor at the University of Washington. I finally got tired of all the bullshit in regards to whether the pump was working or not and moved to a doctor close to home. This doctor doesn't work in a pain clinic, she's a rehab doctor. Well, she didn't want to give me pain meds, she wanted my general doctor to do that. Well, my GP doesn't want to do that, either!

I do get pain meds from my GP, but he's not happy about it. Well, about a month ago, I switched GPs, since he was being difficult on the pain meds issue, since he told me to exercise my back to get it to stop hurting. I have Cerebral Palsy. ALL my muscles fight against each other contracting, and he wants me to excersize muscles that I can't actively move??? I finally got fed up with his attitude and picked a GP 4 miles away. Well, she refilled my prescription. But when I went to get THAT prescription refilled, she denied it. The message on the phone was that since I was in a pain clinic, they didn't need to give me pain meds. ARGH! Going to call tomorrow and straighten them out.

With the new guidelines from the American Medical Association, this will make it easier to get the pain relief I need. The AMA is telling doctors to prescribe narcotics and other drugs for pain relief as very few people get addicted. Well, it's about time, is all I say. *sigh* It'd be nice to be somewhat more comfortable. I'm not even asking to be pain free.
