          Disabled Rights

Well, I'm not really sure how to deal with this... science fiction fans on an email list insist that the right to have my dog with me everywhere I go, is less than a black person being able to go anywhere. Now, I'm being told that if someone is allergic or doesn't like dogs, *I* should be the one to move away from this person. Even African American persons would not do this, if someone said they didn't like blacks, or they smelled bad, or whatever. But, my rights to have my dog with me, who makes me more independent, should be separated from anyone who is afraid or allergic to dogs! I am expected to give way if someone has a problem. This is wrong and shouldn't be allowed to happen, but when I tried to explain it, I got shot down! So, now these people that I thought were my friends, are deciding that *I* will compromise if anyone has a problem with my dog.

I can't even get them to LISTEN to me. They all think they are right, and I'm wrong. The only way to correct this is to sue the conventions that this happens to, because otherwise, they will expect all disabled to "compromise" our rights away. And that is not going to happen!
