You know, there are some days when things seem to go right, and seem to go wrong at the SAME time. I'm in charge of a group to network for role-playing purposes. WWARPS (Western Washington Area Role-Players Society) meets the 4th Saturday of every month. Information can be found at http://wwarps.danawheels.net.
However, while I started out going to the meeting, as I am in charge of this group, but it wasn't originally my idea... well, does the term, "walking in with both eyes wide open", make any sense? *grin* When I first starting heading over to the local Wizards of the Coast game store, I mentioned to the manager that I'd like to start a gaming group that networked and helped players and DMs connect and find each other. This happened to work right into the manager's ideas, and I ended up being in charge of it! *giggle* Anyway, I started feeling sick, and um, decided that I couldn't deal with going to the meeting. The DH had dropped me off, but I called him and told him to pick me up, 'cause I was sick.
While I was waiting for him to return from home, I showed up at WoTC (Wizards of the Coast), and the manager wanted to talk to me. He took me aside and asked if I'd consider working for him, running the weekly D&D games they put on for new players to get them an introduction to the game! I had expressed that I wanted to do this on my own, and am working toward that end, but this totally blew me away! It's a done deal as soon as he gets more hours authorized from the home office. I'd be working 5 hours a week, DMing games for new people interested in D&D. We'd have 5 or 6 weeks together, then we'd switch out to new members. Only stipulation is that they'd like me to use published adventures. No hardship, as that way adventures are already tailored for whatever level, and in this case, 1st level. Until I get used to running 3rd ed adventures, I'll probably stay with the Adventure set, and have the players pick characters available there so we don't have to waste time rolling characters. If they want to continue after the 6 weeks, they can join my regular campaign on the weekend, for those that have some knowledge in D&D. *grin* I won't get paid for the 2nd campaign, but hey, getting paid to DM D&D is awsome! The benefits other than getting paid over minimum wage, is a discount on anything in the store, and being paid for doing something I normally would do anyway! So, I just have to wait until there are more hours, and I'm in... and I'll help during Christmas too, or any time they need an extra hand, as I'll be a fully trained employee able to run the cash register.
There was one concern that we had to work out, and it became a non-issue. The fact that I'm disabled, and use a wheelchair, the manager was worried about how I could get around the store and do stuff, like use the cash register. I can get behind the counter so that is NOT a problem, and the computer/cash register is at a height I can use. The main counter IS a bit high, but I can deal with that, if only going around to grab items to scan. And WoTC would be eligible for credits for making the store accessible to me.
I'm on cloud nine. I didn't apply for this job, it was HANDED to me. Wow!
Which is good, 'cause I'm really not feeling good. Knew something was wrong when I had stomach cramps then tossed my cookies in the restroom at the mall. Then when I got home, I worshipped the porcelain throne for quite awhile.

Well, I'm getting into role-playing more... first with Keepers, now, with computer games. I picked up Baldur's Gate, and at $19.99... they had the first two chapters for $9.99, but the entire game for $19.99 and I'm not a fool, and picked up the game. And the strategy book... not as good as I would have thought. *sigh* I may return it... I find better stuff on the net! *grumble* And I paid for 2nd day air? *sheesh* That's the last time I buy a book like that and NOT look at it first in a book store.
And there's a new gaming store 4 miles away, and it looks like I'm starting a game there during the week. Plus the two games I'm starting at the local Wizards of the Coast store. Wow. For someone who hasn't gamed in YEARS, things are getting very very busy.
I'm really rusty in role-playing. Thank goodness for the Keepers. If I didn't have them to practice on (as a player), I don't know what I'd do!
I also got other things in the mail, like the target stick and clickers I ordered for training Gillis. I really like Gary Wilkes' site... if you're ever wanted to train a dog without correction or force, you have to try clicker training!
I also got a new pinch collar for him (gotta find my extra links for it), and a dumbbell keychain. Only obedience people will really appreciate that. They all showed up in the last two days too. :)
I also ordered a new battery for the laptop. Nice of Toshiba to lose a lawsuit... they gave us a gift card worth $225, which was just enough for a new battery, which was good, 'cause the old one was DEAD.

Sometimes I get so frustrated... I love my husband and he loves me, but sometimes I want to strangle him. He's starting to say things that I KNOW are verbal abuse, but I don't believe he realizes what he's doing. (And no, Domy, I'm NOT rationalizing it). Everytime I complain about his lack of doing something I've asked him to do, he comes back with something I haven't done, actually several somethings.
Sometimes I think all he wants is sex. He's happy when we make love, and he'd love to do it every night, but he won't say "I love you", and right now, he's not even treating me with respect. I've been working 6 days a week, and now that I'm home, he's expecting me to hop to and have dinner on the table, and all that! ARGH! Well, I'm going to give it a few weeks, and if nothing changes, there's always councilling.
But then again, we just started paying a credit place to pay off our credit cards, so unless my DH gets hired on at his job (where he's a contractor), we're not going to have money for the next FIVE YEARS. *sigh*
